Theme | Surrender
Ishvara translates as god, lord or higher being. Pranidhana translates as to devote, dedicate or surrender. Ishvara pranidhana references surrendering to allow something to happen. As a society, we are always lining up our ducks and working to make things happen. We have to do these things - but then also we have to step back a bit and allow things to happen. If everything looks like a nail that needs hammering and all we do is hammer hammer hammer, there is less opportunity for grace and magic.
There is a preconceived notion that 'surrender' means hands up, giving up, I've got nothing left, so just take it. But in yoga 'surrender' or ishvara pranidhana is not about giving up. It's about allowing something outside of yourself - in. Grace, faith, love. You can be attached or unattached to any organized religion - and still have faith.
Practice will be a well rounded vinyasa practice, with at least 10 min of slowing down and resting at the end.
