Classes start Tuesday, August 3rd.
August’s journey to Hanuman ( also referred to Hanumanasa, or splits pose) invites us to a self-study of who we are in-process.
What leaps of faith can we take towards the life we are seeking to create? How can we bravely channel our passion and talent into purpose?
This month’s series continues from July’s study of tapas or discipline, yoking our inner fire and our ability to lead and create. The physical preparation of the body to splits will also include focus on the navel and sacral chakras of the subtle body. Our naval chakra is believed to house our inner fire, courage and leadership, while the sacral chakra invites us to our creative power, autonomy and birthright.
Weekly focus is included below:
Week 1: 8/3 - 8/6
The Foundation: Introduction to Hanuman
We start the month with an introduction to Hanuman, a devoted companion of King Rama. With this look into Hanuman’s story, the building blocks that we will carry forward as we work towards splits will be introduced: a focus on the hip complex, and the movements of lunge.
Week 2: 8/10 - 8/13
Self-Study: Acknowledging our gifts
This second week is a deeper dive into the hip complex and the evolving energies of the sacral chakra, which is believed to house our creative ability and birthright to abundance. This week’s physical build will progress from week 1, and also include a focus on the outer hips and thighs.
Week 3: 8/17 - 8/20
Self-Study: Who are we in-process?
How are we honoring the talent and ability we already possess? How do we pursue challenge? What does our bravery look like in action? This week, students are invited to witness themselves in pursuit, as we work on flexibility at the hip flexors.
Week 4: 8/24 - 8/27
Devotion and Commitment
This final week will serve as a tap into our inner fire, with a brave look at purpose and commitment. How does what we are seeking to create serve the broader collective? Our final week will be the culmination of this journey, as we explore twists to unite our inner fire and creative ability.
Classes will take place on Tuesdays & Fridays | 7:30am - 8:30am, EDT, starting Tuesday, August 3rd through Friday, August 27th. All classes will be made available for a 7-day replay.
