Unstruck - Open Heart: June All-Access | Community Price

Classes start Tuesday, June 1.

Anahata = Heart Chakra
Sanskrit: अनाहत
English: unhurt, unbeaten, not having been struck, referring to the primordial sound and pulse of the universe.

June’s all-access is focused on the courage of back-bending and opening of the energetic heart. The physical practice will be supported by teachings found on the observances of Ahimsa, non-harming, Santocha, contentment and Saucha, cleanliness as guides towards self-love and community care for the broader collective.

The physical builds to the various back-bends of yoga will guide us to additional hip opening, shoulder mobility, and postural alignment. This physical focus supports the space to bravely take on a self-inquiry that is led by love in its many forms.
Classes are open to all practice levels, and each week, will consist of progressive builds to a peak, and also restore the body. .

Weekly focus is included below:

Week 1: 6/1 - 6/4
The Foundation: All About Love
An introduction to heart chakra, and exploration of our current definitions of love and their origins. Also the start of framing love as commitment and action. Physical practice will center on the solar traditional of Surya Namaskara, sun salutations, and include muscle action drills that we will use throughout the series to support safe and courageous back-bending through the month.
This week’s teachings will be supported by All About Love by bell hooks, and Radical Dharma by Rev. angel Kyodo Williams, Lama Rod Owens, and Jasmine Syedullah, PhD.

Week 2: 6/8 - 6/11
Ahimsa, non-harming, as a bridge to dharma, interconnectedness. How do we connect with others? What do community care and collective liberation look like when lead by love?
Progressive strengthening in Bridge, and build to variations of Wheel

Week 3: 6/15 - 6/18
Santocha, contentment as the guide to how we engage with ourselves. What are we grateful for? How can we nourish ourselves? What relationship would we like to build with ourselves?
Build to variations of Mermaid pose (variation of pigeon).

Week 4: 6/22 - 6/25
Saucha, cleanliness. Using the heart as courage to release that which no longer serves. What is self-care asking us to release?
Build to Revolved Half-Moon pose.

Props are not required, but are recommended to have around just in case (blocks, or books, pillows or bolster, blanket or towel). This series is open to all practice levels.

Classes will take place on Tuesdays & Fridays | 7:30am - 8:30am, EDT, starting Tuesday, June 1, through Friday, June 25th. All classes will be made available for a 7-day replay.

Zoom information will be sent by the evening prior to class. At the start of each week, journaling prompts will be included (but are not mandatory) for continued self-study.
