Jocelyn Casey-Whiteman

Jocelyn Casey-Whiteman is a teacher and poet living in New York City. Once a professional dancer, she integrates a love of fluid movement with a mindful, creative, interoceptive practice that creates space for students to learn and explore. She’s studied with Kofi Busia and Genny Kapular. Her poetry appears in journals such as Boston Review, Poetry Ireland, and West Branch; her chapbook Lure was published by the Poetry Society of America. She’s served as a mentor for Girls Write Now; taught with Exhale to Inhale, an organization dedicated to bringing yoga to shelters; and currently teaches creative writing and yoga at Manhattan Country School.

I have taken yoga classes with Jocelyn for the past four years, and find her most attentive to the wellbeing of participants in all of her sessions. I hope that I can contiinue to be part of her practice for a very long time.
